Two Women & Gaming Conferences
May 23, 2004 - by Ian Bogost

Two conferences about women & gaming are on the horizon....

The Women's Game Conference will take place September 9 - 10 in Austin, TX. The conference runs concurrently with the Austin Game Conference, and registration for the former gets you access to the latter as well. From the conference website, where submissions are also being accepted:

The conference will focus on a variety of women’s topics in the computer and video game industry including examining career paths for women in the industry and issues related to working in the industry as women as well as how women are portrayed in games and women and girls as consumers of games.

Also, the Women in Games Conference will take place June 10 - 11 in Portsmouth, UK. Aims of the conference, from their website:

1. Analyse the role of women in the videogame industry. 2. Discuss the future of games that appeal to female gamers. 3. Provide an opportunity for women working in the videogame industry to network.
