Making and unmaking the world September 18, 2004 - by Gonzalo Frasca Who knows? Maybe we are not on the right lists. Maybe we were not paying attention. I guess we could even blame some computer glitch. But the fact is that sometimes we miss the opportunity and publish some links a bit late. Today, thankfully, it was just a day late. So you may be still able to check this University of Maine conference/exhibit on war games. Sept 17-24. Still jetlagged, tons of things to take care of and a flight to Tokyo leaving tomorrow morning. Yep, I said morning. That's quite a shame; it means that I will need to pack tonight. Actually, my bag is still packed. Sort of. Espen gave me a bottle of Melatonin. I am not a drugs kind of guy (I just say no, I guess ;) But desperate times call for desperate measures. My friend in Tokyo will be leaving for a conference just a few hours after I arrive, so the key to my Tokyo den will be hidden in a secret spot, waiting for me to pick it up and spread all my jetlagness over the tatami. Last year in Japan jetlag lasted for 5 whole days. Of course, I did not care. Sure, Japan is still trendy, but after Tarantino's Kill Bill, we'll need another excuse to be hip. Maybe South America is the new Japan, who knows. With all these movies about the Che Guevara, gringos may be drooling over Inca designs rather than wacky Japanese toys. Nah, maybe not. The best part of arriving to Tokyo is that I always have to walk through Ueno park with my bag. I like Ueno Park. It's really big by Tokyo standards and there is this food stand with strange, grilled delicacies. I never stopped by for food there. Tomorrow I may. Only if I am hungry. POST A COMMENT
